female at the end of breeding plumage
breeding female plumage is black and white
two content- one lazy still hungry juveniles
There were several rookery areas filled with nesting parents, juveniles and fledglings. These are a few of the many nesting Anhingas we saw at the Wakodahatchee wetlands.
It was a great day..

thanks, i have seen the adults here many times but never seen the children or the juveniles. beautiful birds
Great shots...same as Sandra...first time to see the younguns!
Oh to be able to be there and see all of this beauty in person.
so neat!!! i see them so rarely here. we get cormorants, though.
What a great find! I would be happy to find these birds hanging out. Wonderful shots of the birds...beautiful!
This bird actually has breeding plumage on the females... Interesting. In most, only the male "gets all duded-up" for mating...

Cool burds!
What great shots, Pam! Beautiful bird that I don't think I've seen before! Always fun to see the young ones! Hope your week is going well! Enjoy!

They have fluffy down.
These are marvelous pictures. I think you had fabulous success on your walk.
Thank you so much. They were truly beautiful.
I've put that Wetlands on my TBV list (to be visited!)....At Corkscrew, I got a picture of an adult in breeding plumage, (as I just learned from you), but I've never seen the young ones. Thank you.....
Beautiful shots, Pam! That's a bird we don't have and I think they're very cool looking.
Lovely wildlife... hugs Pam i am.
March 1st...
Dear Pam, thank you for your sweet comment in my blog... Saying that I have the "best blog layouts". :-) How very, very sweet of you to say. And I admit, very, very, very nice to hear. :-)
I do try to make my blog look pretty. And I also like to change it, often. It's part of the fun of blogging, for me.
But it's icing-on-the-cake when some Dear Reader says she notices. :-))))

March 1st...
Re: your comment today... But Dear One, you missed something. "The Computer Faerie" did bring me a brand new iMac computer, a week or so ago!!!
Well, I guess we'd better call it, "Uncle A." made sure I had a new computer. Don't think he'd want to be called "The Computer Faerie." -giggles-
So this latest good news, was icing on the cake, as it were. :-)
Happy March!

One more bird species that I've never heard of, to add to the list!
I REALLY need a book on birds.
Nice pics Pam!
Magnificent birds, Pam. So different from anything I ever see here. :)
