A Wood Stork was feeding in the mash when,
a Tri Colored Heron flew over his head.
The stork flapped its wings in frustration.
After regaining his composure he turned
toward me with a look that said.. 'what the heck was that?'
It was our first visit to the Wakodahatchee wetlands in Delray Beach.. and the perfect time to see winter migrating and nesting birds with newborns.

Handsome bird -- even when he's scared! Great shots, Pam, as always! Look forward to more from your trip to the wetlands -- that is an interesting and LONG name for it! Love it! Have a wonderful day and a great weekend!

these are such cool and prehistoric looking birds! i was lucky enough to have one stop here at our pond in Tx a few years back. amazing!
can't wait to see what else you saw, I love the wood storks, they are like the pelicans, so ugly they are cute
Sometimes I'm not sure if I'm reading my blog or yours -- and then I see how good the pictures are and how witty the commentary is and I know I'm on yours ;>)...(we went to Corkscrew Audobon Park and Wildlife area Tuesday!)
Beautiful birds. Makes me miss the times we used to travel to the beach when our children were small.
What a beauty! Love his wings!
Joy and bliss. Thank you.
They are so beautiful! Lovely captures! Thanks for sharing them with us! Love them!
I wish we had storks here, but I'll just have to look at them through other people's photos. Beautiful shots, Pam!
Very exciting shots. We don't have many storks here:) so it's nice to see them elsewhere. Now the Great Blue Heron does appear here....s/he has just eluded me....for now:)
Nice pictures. Wood storks are interesting, because on the one hand they are ugly with their "iron head," but on the other hand there is something pretty about the way their black and white feathers stand out against each other.
This is a wonderful photo sequence. I'm looking forward to seeing what happened next.
That's a funny story Pam; I enjoyed your interpretation! Beautiful Wood Stork!!
Poor fellow, didn't the other guy know he was suppose to get clearance before coming in for such a low landing. :)
I love the shot of him flapping his wings. I have never seen a stork in the wild.
I've never seen a wood stork. He's a pretty guy.
Interesting that tha heron startled him. Perhaps he thought he was being attacked by a giant bird of prey.
I love storks - there are none where we live.
Beautiful captures, Pam.
Dear Pam,
Your photographs, lyrical messages, and accompanying piano music with its tide and bird calls always bring me such a sense of well-being. Of comfort and contentment. Thank you.
Awesome photos Pam. Love those big birds...
